Game 99: Red Sox look to extend winning streak to 14 as three-game series vs. Orioles opens
Make that a baker’s dozen for the Red Sox.
Sunday’s 6-1 win over the Rays extended their winning streak to 13, and the four-game sweep moved them within six games of first place in the AL East. Boston also holds the third wild-card spot after improving to two games above .500 for the first time this season.

For those old enough to have witnessed it (reluctantly raising hand), the run is reminiscent of 1988, when the Sox ripped off 12 straight wins, and 19 of 20, to reach the postseason under interim manager Joe Morgan.
Another division foe is up next as the Orioles are in town for a three-game series. Payton Tolle will be on the mound for Monday’s opener, while the Orioles will counter with Shane Baz.
