Anthony DiLorenzo secured President Trump’s endorsement on Monday in the contested GOP primary for New Hampshire’s First Congressional District.

In a social media post, Trump lauded DiLorenzo as a “very successful” businessman and entrepreneur who understands the policies needed to produce jobs, cut taxes, streamline regulations, and promote American goods and energy.
“As your next Congressman, he will work tirelessly to Grow the Economy, Advance Election Integrity, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump wrote.
DiLorenzo responded to Trump’s endorsement with a statement thanking the president and expressing eagerness to work with the administration to “make life more affordable” and preserve opportunity for future generations.
“President Trump’s America First agenda is lowering costs, raising wages, creating jobs, and helping Granite Staters achieve the American Dream,” he said.
Trump’s approval rating in New Hampshire slipped in June to the lowest level it has been in nearly nine years, according to the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.
While the president remains popular among Republicans, his unpopularity among Democrats and independents could complicate the general election for those he endorses.
When asked in June whether he is “the MAGA candidate” in this race, DiLorenzo didn’t answer with an emphatic “yes.” Instead, he said he supports “a large percentage” of the president’s policy agenda, including lower taxes, unleashing domestic energy, and achieving “peace through strength.”
“If you call that MAGA, sure,” he said.
“I’ll stand up to anybody, including the president,” he added, “if I think that what he’s representing is not in the best interest of the people of New Hampshire.”

New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley said Trump has delivered higher costs for Granite Staters, and DiLorenzo “is ready to double down on the same failed agenda.”
“Birds of a feather flock together,” Buckley said. “Donald Trump is so desperate for anyone willing to fall in line that he is once again scraping the bottom of the barrel, adding Anthony DiLorenzo to his lineup of candidates auditioning to be his next rubber stamp in Congress.”
DiLorenzo — who has largely been self-funding his campaign — is one of six GOP candidates in the race. He’s up against Hollie Noveletsky, Melissa Bailey, Brian Cole, Lindsey Anderson, and Michael Anthony Callis.
Recent polling suggests Noveletsky may be DiLorenzo’s biggest competition, though most likely GOP primary voters remain undecided. In late June, the Saint Anselm College Survey Center found that 16 percent preferred Noveletsky, while 13 percent preferred DiLorenzo, a combined 10 percent preferred two other candidates, and another 61 percent remained unsure.
The winner of the GOP primary in September will face off with the winner of the Democratic primary, where there are currently nine candidates: Stefany Shaheen, Maura Sullivan, Christian Urrutia, Heath Howard, Carleigh Beriont, Sarah Chadzynski, Bill Conlin, Matthew Emerson, and Sarah Bella Spinosa.
The Saint Anselm survey showed Shaheen leading with support from 22 percent of likely Democratic primary voters, followed by Sullivan at 15 percent, Howard at 9 percent, and three others at a combined 7 percent, while 47 percent of voters remained unsure.
Shaheen said Trump endorsed DiLorenzo to be “a rubber stamp” in Congress for cutting health care and giving immigration agents free rein.
“We’ve got to stop Trump’s corruption, and start helping Granite State families who are getting crushed by the cost of health care, housing, and everything else,” she said. ”Trump and DiLorenzo are in for a surprise. Granite Staters are fighting back, together we’re going to win this seat, flip the House, and hold both Trump and his cronies accountable.”
