Revolution return to action but unable to find any goals in scoreless draw with Toronto
Part of the soundtrack this summer around New England has been, “No Scotland, no party.” For the Revolution it could be, “No grass, no goals.”
After winning seven of eight home games while playing on the grass field used for the World Cup, the Revolution returned from a two-month hiatus to bouncy turf at Gillette Stadium.
The result was a 0-0 draw with Toronto, which resides below the playoff cut line. The Revolution (8-5-2, 26 points) remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, missing out on a chance to jump over Chicago for third.
The best chances for New England came shortly before halftime as Luka Gavran (three saves) denied Carles Gil in the 44th minute, who was later denied by the underside of the crossbar. A minute later, Gil also picked out an oncoming Peyton Miller at the back post on a free kick, and Gavran went down to his right to make the save.
Matt Turner made his only save in the 32nd minute, easily handling a bid from Jackson Gilman, for his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Toronto’s Josh Sargent also had a great opportunity in the 75th minute with a header from the just outside the 6-yard box that grazed the near post off an Alonso Coello corner.
It was the second game after the World Cup break for Toronto (3-6-7, 16 points), which played to a 0-0 tie at Montreal on Thursday.
The Revolution host Atlanta United on Saturday before playing seven of their next nine games away from Foxborough.
