Game 107: Red Sox at Athletics lineups and notes
After seeing their 10-game winning streak on the road vanish with Tuesday’s 4-3 loss, the Red Sox will be back in action to face the Athletics for the third game of their four-game series Wednesday.

Tuesday’s loss demonstrated why the Red Sox made the ill-fated trade to acquire Curtis Mead, as the offense struggled for the second night in a row. With Mead being placed on the injured list with a fractured wrist, the Sox will likely keep looking for hitting help ahead of next week’s trade deadline.
With Mead out, infielder Nick Sogard was summoned from Triple-A Worcester and will be available Wednesday, said interim manager Chad Tracy.
Tonight’s contest will be another matchup of lefthanders, with Patrick Sandoval getting the start for the Sox, while the A’s will counter with Jacob Lopez.
