Game 91: Red Sox look to sweep White Sox in Thursday matinee

The Red Sox, who have won the first five games of their nine-game road trip, will be going for the sweep when they face the White Sox this afternoon at Rate Field. First pitch is 2:10 p.m.

With Wednesday’s 5-0 win, the Red Sox have won 10 of their last 12, and have taken four of their last six series. They are are 5-2-1 in their last seven road series.

“Man, we’re having fun,” said third baseman Caleb Durbin. “It definitely feels different in the clubhouse, different in the dugout. I mean, we’re clicking. So, it’s a lot of fun when you’re stringing some wins together and obviously feels the best it’s felt yet.”

The only bad news came in the third inning, when Willson Contreras (left foot contusion) and Anthony Seigler (right trapezius contusion) exited the game with injuries. Interim manager Chad Tracy said after the game that Contreras could put weight on his foot and Seigler was experiencing soreness. Contreras told reporters he believes his injury is day-to-day.

It will be a matchup of lefthanders in today’s finale Patrick Sandoval will get the start for the Red Sox in his first major league appearance since June 21, 2024, following a recovery from Tommy John surgery and other injuries.
