Taylor Swift wedding speculation heats up (again) near her R.I. mansion

Fans of Taylor Swift know all too well that rumors about when and where the singer will be getting married have been unrelenting since she announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in August.

That could make for a cruel summer for the residents of Watch Hill, the seaside neighborhood in Westerly, R.I., where Swift owns a vacation home — and where the most intense speculation has been focused.

On Friday, yet another tabloid story surfaced — this time from TMZ — indicating that Swift might be tying the knot at the Ocean House, the ritzy hotel just a stone’s throw away from her mansion, known as Holiday House.

The outlet reported that a massive white tent has been assembled at the beachfront resort and many of her friends are in town.

Still, many people on social media were quick to note the venue is popular for weddings, and the spacious tent could very well be for another happy couple. And luxury wedding planner Elizabeth Hall Events responded to TMZ on Instagram, disputing that this weekend’s ceremony is for Swift and Kelce.

This latest hullabaloo comes just a week after unconfirmed reports claimed they would wed at Ocean House on June 13 (the number has long held significance for the pop star and numerology fanatic). They, of course, did not.

Regardless, the speculation drew eager fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebration — or at least hear the wedding bells chime from a close distance, the New York Times reported.

Some have latched onto the theory the couple will marry in Westerly, citing Swift’s connections to the area and her signature Easter eggs (messages that she has deliberately hidden in her work, including song lyrics and music videos).

Swift purchased the property with sweeping views of the Block Island Sound for around $17.8 million in 2013. Since then, she has regularly hosted an Independence Day bash there with some of her most famous pals.

On her album “folklore,” released in 2020, Swift drew a parallel between herself and Rebekah Harkness, the famed socialite who formerly owned her Rhode Island mansion, in the song “the last great american dynasty.”

Still, no definitive evidence has emerged confirming the nuptials will take place in the Ocean State. In fact, both Ocean House and Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse have previously quashed such reports.

Recently, tabloids have speculated the ceremony will be a star-packed event at Madison Square Garden in New York City in early July. But fans are skeptical, surmising that Swift is intentionally trying to throw people off.
