The Red Sox did just enough Wednesday night to emerge with a 3-1 win over the Phillies. Ceddanne Rafaela’s pinch-hit, go-ahead, two-out, two-run home run in the sixth inning was the difference.

The win marked the 15th time the Red Sox have scored three runs or fewer at Fenway Park this season.

A win in Thursday night’s finale would give the Sox just their second series victory at home. They enter the contest 1-4-1 in series play at Fenway.

The Sox will send Ranger Suarez, who spent eight seasons with Philadelphia before signing a five-year, $130 million contract with the Red Sox in January, to face his former team. The lefthander will be making his first appearance since exiting his last start on May 3.

“I miss [Suarez],” Philadelphia’s Jose Alvarado said this week. “He did a lot of good things for our team. That’s why he means a lot to us, but this is business. He will try to beat us and we will try to beat him.”
