Game 59: Orioles at Red Sox lineups and notes
After a day off, the Red Sox return to Fenway Park to open a three-game series with the Orioles.
They will look to extend their winning streak to three after taking the last two games against the Guardians. Sunday’s 9-4 victory marked just the third series win in the last 10 for Red Sox.
It’s a matchup of the bottom two teams in the AL East, with the Orioles two games ahead of the last-place Red Sox after going 7-3 in their last homestand against the Tigers, Rays, and Blue Jays.
“We were playing the baseball that we’re capable of,” said Baltimore manager Craig Albernaz. “Just all the work that these guys have been putting in relentlessly every day, we’re starting to see the rewards now, and against some really good teams. It’s been fun to watch.”
Lefthander Connelly Early will take the mound for the Sox in Tuesday’s opener, while the Orioles will counter with righthander Shane Baz.
