Sunday’s baseball roundup: Behind Bryce Silva gem, North Attleborough pulls away from Marshfield
Bryce Silva spun a gem, striking out 11 while carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning Sunday afternoon and helping 12th-seeded North Attleborough get past No. 21 Marshfield, 8-2, in the Division 2 first round.
The senior righthander felt in full command, and a five-run sixth inning from his Red Rocketeers (13-8) certainly added a boost.
“I knew I had my stuff today,” said Silva, who yielded two hits. “I was like, ‘OK, keep doing you, keep staying in the zone, trust the field behind you, and just don’t get complacent.’ ”
Ryan Shephard and Jake Ronci drove in runs in the first two frames to help the Red Rocketeers take the early lead, but after the Rams (11-10) pulled back within a run at 3-2 in the sixth, they needed to rally.
Shaun Colonna hit a sacrifice fly, Silva drew a bases-loaded walk, and after a wild pitch plated another, Dylan Brousseau lined a key two-run single with two outs.
“It definitely took a little weight off the shoulders,” NA coach Mike Hart said.

After starting the year 3-6, the Red Rocketeers have won 10 of 12. For a young team, getting that early lead helped tremendously in the tournament environment.
