Game 56: Red Sox at Guardians lineups and notes
After dropping another series at home with Thursday’s 10-2 loss to the Braves, the Red Sox are in Cleveland to open a three-game series with the Guardians.

The loss dropped the Sox to 1-7-1 in series play at Fenway Park, and 5-12-1 overall.
Lefthander Tyler Samaniego, who was recalled from Worcester on Thursday after Garrett Whitlock was placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his left knee, will open Friday’s game for the Sox. Righthander Brayan Bello will follow out of the bullpen.
The Guardians, who reside in first place in the AL Central and own the third-best record in the AL, will counter with righthander Slade Cecconi.
