Claiming crowns<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>In addition to Plymouth North baseball capturing the Patriot League title, Beverly girls\u2019 lacrosse repeated as Northeastern Conference champions, Wakefield softball clinched the Middlesex Freedom crown, Shawsheen girls\u2019 lacrosse captured a Commonwealth championship, Melrose boys\u2019 tennis clinched a share of the Middlesex Freedom title for the first time since 2018, and for the first time, Cambridge baseball captured a Dual County League championship. <\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>Related<span>: <\/span><\/span>Saturday\u2019s eight HS sports takeaways, including a 700th coaching win and ISL Tournament semifinals<\/div>\n<p><span>On Monday, Hopkinton baseball won the Tri-Valley Large, Walpole baseball clinched the Bay State Herget, Abington softball championed the South Shore Tobin, Newburyport boys\u2019 lacrosse won the Cape Ann crown, Swampscott baseball captured the Northeastern Lynch title for the first time since 1997, and Taunton softball locked up its fourth straight Hockomock League championship. <\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>4. The upsets<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>\u25aa No. 5 Natick boys\u2019 volleyball avenged a loss from earlier in the season with a thrilling five-set upset of No. 3 Brookline. <\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>Related<span>: <\/span><\/span>No. 5 Natick boys\u2019 volleyball was on a mission during narrow five-set win over No. 3 Brookline<\/div>\n<p><span>\u25aa While Hamilton-Wenham baseball hadn\u2019t cracked the Globe Top 20 poll, it was on the verge, but the Generals lost their undefeated season with a 2-1 six-inning loss to Georgetown, thanks to <b>Ty Southall\u2019s<\/b> two-run first-inning blast. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u25aa Unranked Woburn softball got the best of No. 20 Reading, 1-0, thanks to freshman <b>Chloe D\u2019Agostino\u2019s<\/b> fifth career shutout, which featured seven strikeouts and three hits allowed. <\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>5. Best finishes<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>\u25aa North Quincy senior captain <b>Tim Toland<\/b> walked off Plymouth South with a single in the seventh that delivered a 4-3 baseball win. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u25aa Weston junior <b>Luke Betty<\/b> fired home the winning goal 20 seconds into overtime for an 11-10 boys\u2019 lacrosse win over Hopkinton. <\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>6. Six stars<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span><b>Madison Adams<\/b>, Marshfield \u2014 The sophomore had the rare two-triple day, driving in three runs in an 11-0 softball triumph over Plymouth North. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Brayden Crawford<\/b>, Saugus \u2014 The senior struck out 13 in seven innings, yielding just one run on six hits in a 3-1 baseball win over Peabody. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Ruth Fagundes<\/b>, Bristol Aggie \u2014 The freshman picked up where she left off in a weather-suspended softball game, finishing off an 11-strikeout no-hitter to beat Cape Cod Tech, 16-4. <\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>Related<span>: <\/span><\/span>Eastern Mass girls\u2019 lacrosse: Players of the Week, May 4-10<\/div>\n<p><span><b>Kasey Pomfret<\/b>, Dartmouth \u2014 The sophomore was a two-way star, crushing a three-run double, a two-run single, and forcing a bases-loaded walk to drive in six runs while also fanning seven over four two-hit innings in the circle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Jodi Soderstrom<\/b>, Duxbury \u2014 The junior produced 12 total bases, homering twice and drilling a pair of doubles to finish with six RBIs in a 15-4 softball win over Hingham. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Kayla Shaw<\/b>, Wakefield \u2014 The junior twirled a one-hitter to defeat Wilmington softball, 8-0. <\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>8. Commitment central<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Archbishop Williams senior <b>Bobby Louis<\/b>, a two-time Catholic Central All-Star, is committed to play basketball at UMass Boston, where his father, <b>George<\/b>, played and coached. The honor roll is a charitable program that recognizes educators who go above and beyond to support their students and communities. Fifteen educators, administrators, and staff will be selected, with each receiving a $1,000 grant. Nominations can be made here until midnight July 7. The class will be announced in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u25aa The Track at New Balance will host 120 athletes from area Boys &amp; Girls clubs for the fifth annual 1906 Invitational Basketball Tournament on Saturday. The tournament brings together youths from across Greater Boston to celebrate teamwork, community, and friendly competition. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The event starts at 10:15 a.m. with a performance by Celtics mascot Lucky and the Flight crew.
