Boston College women\u2019s lacrosse\u2019s run of eight straight trips to the Division 1 final four ended on Sunday afternoon, as host Stony Brook knocked out the Eagles, 10-9, in the second round of the NCAA tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boston College (10-8), which won national titles in 2021 and 2024 during a run of seven straight berths in the championship game, was unseeded in this year\u2019s tournament. Fifth-seeded Stony Brook (19-2), which knocked out first-time NCAA entrant Stonehill on Friday, raced to a 7-1 lead midway through the second quarter and led, 9-3, two minutes into the second half.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Eagles battled back, with Kylee Colbert<\/b> and Leominster\u2019s Giulia Colarusso<\/b> scoring twice during a 6-1 run that brought BC within a goal with 4:13 to play, but the Seawolves did not allow another shot to prevent the upset.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Colbert had four goals, while Colarusso \u2014 whose 40 tied Marissa White<\/b> for the team lead \u2014 had two goals and two assists. \u200bShea Dolce <\/b>(Darien, Conn.), the IWLCA\u2019s goalkeeper of the year, made seven saves.<\/span><\/p>\n
