The Bruins will retire Patrice Bergeron\u2019s No. 37 on Dec. 1, the highlight of the 2026-27 expanded 84-game schedule the NHL released on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony for Bergeron, the record six-time Selke Award winner, will come against the Avalanche, about a month after he is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Bergeron\u2019s number will be raised alongside Zdeno Chara\u2019s No. 33, which took its place in the TD Garden rafters last season. Bergeron and Chara are forever linked as the franchise\u2019s leaders for more than a decade \u2014 a run punctuated by the Stanley Cup championship in 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bruins open the season Sept. 29 with a home game against the Rangers. They will then kick off the first of three October road trips with games in Winnipeg (Oct. 2) and St. Paul (Oct. 3). The Jets-Wild set is the first of 14 back-to-back dates on the Black and Gold\u2019s itinerary.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Bruins will play 17 of their 42 home games on weekends, including nine always popular matinees.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an oddity, Boston will have nine of its 11 November games at home, including the annual Black Friday game, in which the Bruins will play the Maple Leafs at 1 p.m. Nov. 27. Boston will start a season-long six-game home run from Nov. 21 through Dec. 5 with games against the Capitals (Nov. 21), Jets (Nov. 25), Maple Leafs (Nov. 27), Canucks (Nov. 29), Avalanche (Dec. 1), and Red Wings (Dec. 5).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bruins will play on Long Island Dec. 22 before the three-day Christmas break. They will start back up by hosting the Islanders on Dec. 26.<\/span><\/p>\n
