{"id":4502,"date":"2026-07-07T21:34:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T21:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=4502"},"modified":"2026-07-07T21:34:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T21:34:13","slug":"catsonacouch-instagram-account-owner-sues-over-exclusion-from-vp-vance-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=4502","title":{"rendered":"\u2018CatsOnACouch\u2019 Instagram account owner sues over exclusion from VP Vance event"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<div>\n<p><span>A woman who runs several cat-themed social media accounts mocking US Vice President JD Vance based on viral comments he made that the country was being run by \u201cchildless cat ladies\u201d filed a lawsuit on Tuesday alleging she was unconstitutionally barred from hearing him speak at an event in Maine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=4500\">Judge rejects Justice Department attempt to get names of 2020 election workers in Fulton County<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Amanda McGonigle, a Massachusetts woman whose CatsOnACouch account on Instagram has amassed more than 1.9 million followers, alleged in a  filed in federal court in Maine that she had followed proper registration protocols to attend an event in May in Bangor where Vance was set to talk about his fraud crackdown initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Yet McGonigle said that while waiting in line, she was singled out by officials including armed US Secret Service agents who told her she was being excluded because \u201cwe know where you stand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>McGonigle said she was excluded as a result of her CatsOnACouch accounts on Instagram and Facebook, which she launched beginning in 2024 after Vance\u2019s 2021 \u201cchildless cat ladies\u201d comments went viral. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The May 14 event was tied to Vance\u2019s leadership of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
