[Anthony says], \u2018A little bit better, a little bit better,\u2019 and it\u2019s just slowly improving. So we\u2019ve been slowly progressing forward each and every day, and today he felt pretty good, so that\u2019s a good sign for us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>The next big step: swinging a bat. The Sox hope Anthony will begin a hitting progression by Sunday, Tracy said. Initially, the Sox thought they wouldn\u2019t even have to put him on the IL, such was the minor nature of his injury. But when he didn\u2019t get better as quickly as they expected and was officially sidelined, they got him a cortisone shot, which apparently helped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s probably a part of why the improvement is happening right now,\u201d Tracy said. \u201cJust because you have that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean, \u2018Oh, we\u2019re good, let\u2019s go play.\u2019 You still have to do the proper steps and make sure things are going right. But we\u2019re [heading] in the right direction.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>That the Sox allowed him to come on this road trip, which will include a series in Kansas City beginning Monday, was a \u201cgreat sign,\u201d Anthony said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGoing on the IL sucks at any point in time. Never want to do that. Sitting around watching baseball games, it\u2019s not what I want to do,\u201d Anthony said. \u201cObviously, I\u2019m going to do what I can to be the best teammate I can, but for me, it\u2019s about getting out there [and playing].<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI don\u2019t think [the healing] went badly in terms of what I was feeling and how it\u2019s progressed over the last few days. They got to their hotel around 3:30 a.m. Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd we are always monitoring Trev with the groin and making sure he\u2019s good, so we felt like today was an appropriate day to give him off,\u201d Tracy said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The other side of it: Monasterio has been playing well. Although he had gotten into just two games over the previous nine days, he was 4 for 7 with three doubles in those appearances.
