Oshie \u2014 but the Bruins forward has one more thing on his hockey itinerary before the dog days of summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=330\">The Patriots\u2019 2026 schedule will be released Thursday. Here\u2019s what we know.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Hagens will suit up for the United States at the IIHF World Championship. The Americans open the tournament Friday against host Switzerland.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>It will cap a whirlwind season for Hagens, who started his hockey campaign with Boston College, competed at the World Juniors in December, joined the Providence Bruins in March, and then made his NHL and playoff debuts with the Bruins a month later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When he pulls on Uncle Sam\u2019s colors in Zurich, it\u2019ll be the 19-year-old\u2019s fifth sweater since September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s a lot to take in. It was a really exciting year. This is a dream come true for me,\u201d Hagens said. \u201cSo, to be able to go back home, probably sit down, spend a lot of time with my dog. I haven\u2019t seen him in a while, but yeah, I don\u2019t know. It comes at you quick. So, it\u2019s just being able to kind of relax, spend time with family, kind of wind it back down. But at the same time, you want to be able to get better, so it\u2019s going to be a big offseason. It\u2019ll be cool getting that experience and being around guys like that, as well,\u201d said Hagens during the Bruins\u2019 locker room cleanout day. \u201cJust go out there and play hockey. You get a chance to go out and play more games. So, you just got to make sure that you bring over good habits, and you learn from it, too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Don Sweeney said the Worlds is a perfect environment to continue Hagens\u2019s development. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a great opportunity. Being part of Hockey Canada and understanding the players that went last year to represent Canada and look at the rosters now, they\u2019re all taking an eye towards the World Cup, the Olympics. It\u2019s a really competitive tournament,\u201d said the Bruins\u2019 general manager. \u201cHe now has a chance to be a part of a locker room of star players on other teams and earn ice time. That\u2019s what it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After signing his entry-level contract, Hagens played in Boston\u2019s final two regular-season games and the first three playoff tilts against the Sabres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=328\">Senators approve withholding their own pay during government shutdowns<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>His speed, vision, and hockey IQ were evident during those snippets. Off the ice, Hagens also got an inside look at how his older mates prepare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think all around, you see these guys, their attention to detail, everything matters. There\u2019s not a play in the games that doesn\u2019t [matter], so it\u2019s being able to see that,\u201d said Hagens. \u201cI have to be able to get faster, to work on my shot. You can work on everything. So, it\u2019s not one specific thing. I want to try to make everything better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Speed \u2014 both physical and mental \u2014 are specific areas where Hagens would like to improve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou have to be able to think right away. You don\u2019t have too much time and space. So, you have to be able to make plays, and you\u2019ve got to be able to move out there, especially when you get the puck your first couple steps. They have to be strong,\u201d said Hagens. \u201cSo, working on that, and when you have time to skate, just hopefully try to take off.
