The Sox went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position and stranded 13 runners against Toronto starter Dylan Cease and four relievers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough,\u201d said interim manager Chad Tracy. \u201cWe took four or five walks. Obviously drove the pitch count up and gave ourselves chances. I think we had a runner in scoring position or multiple in each of the five innings (Cease) pitched. We were one big hit away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Sox have now lost six of their last eight to fall 14\u00bd games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boston will turn to Jake Bennett, making just his fourth start, to turn it around. He allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings his last time out, a 7-5 loss at Tampa Bay on June 10.<\/span><\/p>\n
