{"id":287,"date":"2026-05-14T07:03:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T07:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=287"},"modified":"2026-05-14T07:03:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T07:03:23","slug":"official-says-world-cup-fans-should-drive-to-foxborough-and-must-have-ticket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=287","title":{"rendered":"Official says World Cup fans should drive to Foxborough and must have ticket"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<div>\n<p><span>FOXBOROUGH \u2014 The day before Gillette Stadium transitions to \u201cBoston Stadium\u201d for this summer\u2019s World Cup, local organizers went out of their way to encourage local spectators to arrive the old-fashioned way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=285\">Home run balls help carry Red Sox to victory over Phillies<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Drive your car.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf you were coming to a concert or if you were coming to a football game, we recommend you travel the way you would \u2014 and as you know, most of those people drive,\u201d said Jim Nolan, chief operating officer of Kraft Sports &amp; Entertainment at a \u201cKnow Before You Go\u201d press briefing a month before the first of seven World Cup games in Foxborough. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Nolan on Wednesday explained that with domestic and foreign visitors expected to use the expanded bus and train services, there will be abundant satellite parking available along Route 1 in addition to the approximately 5,000 parking spaces FIFA will control at the stadium.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pricing for the non-stadium parking spots remains unknown, and no advance reservation system is expected to be available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Among other topics covered in the briefing:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 No matter how a person arrives at the stadium, Nolan urged that person to have a ticket. Tickets will be scanned three times \u2014 entering a parking lot, going through security, and then to enter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf you don\u2019t have a ticket, don\u2019t come to Gillette,\u201d said Nolan, who recommended fans without tickets celebrate in their communities or the FanFest in Boston. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He added, \u201cWe are 100 percent allowing tailgating for all FIFA matches, but again, that is just for ticket-holders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 The customary \u201cclear-bag\u201d policy for personal belongings will be in effect, though Nolan recommended fans use the smallest bag they can.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 Gates will open three hours before matches. A Fan Experience zone is located inside the gates and will be active as soon as the gates open.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 The stadium will be cashless, with cash-to-credit kiosks available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 The bus services that will be operating out of greater Boston hotels are not reserved for hotel guests. All ticket-holders can pay for bus rides, which will begin at least three and up to 4\u00bd hours before matches.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Those bus rides will cost $95. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>News emerged Wednesday that the state of New York and private sources will chip in to slash the price of bus rides from New York to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey from $80 to $20.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Nolan said a similar response should not be expected here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThirty days out, we don\u2019t expect any new public money for transportation and we don\u2019t expect any new private money for transportation,\u201d he said. \u201cWe don\u2019t expect to see a change in that. In New York, they specifically got $6 million from the government to erase that cost. I would expect by the end of the week, we\u2019ll have answers. And FIFA is to blame.<\/div>\n<p><span>\u22c5 There have been reports that some European fans will be just fine with bicycling or walking many miles to get to the stadiums of their choice. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Foxborough\u2019s chief of police, Michael Grace, good-naturedly said that dealing with bicyclists and pedestrians does not appear on his list of security concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI anticipate that\u2019s not going to be an issue that we have to worry about,\u201d he said. \u201cI think the first 5 miles into it and they check their GPS, they\u2019re going to say that\u2019s a bad idea.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 Organizers are working with Uber to expand service. The rideshare spot will be parking lot No. 16. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 The seven games are not sold out yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s a complicated thing to say an event like this is sold out, but it is well on track to be full,\u201d said Loynd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 Grace said ICE will not play a part in security at the games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere is no plan for the use of ICE at any of the events,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Trump administration came out and made that very clear publicly and in statements.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 Details on the registration process for the Boston City Hall FanFest should be ready for release \u201cin the next week or so,\u201d said Loynd. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u22c5 As of Thursday, the Patriots\u2019 Pro Shop, Patriots Hall of Fame, Gillette Stadium Lighthouse, and access to the Tom Brady statue outside the North entrance will be closed through mid-July.
