In detailing the nitty gritty of his injury saga \u2014 a shoulder problem, then a lat problem, now shoulder caution again \u2014 Crochet made clear that if the Sox are going to save their season before the Aug. 3 trade deadline, they\u2019ll have to do so largely without him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf I hadn\u2019t injured my lat as well, then I\u2019d say, yeah, it\u2019s possible,\u201d Crochet said Friday, before the Red Sox opened a homestand with a game against the Rangers. \u201cBut I think that would be really rushing it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Red Sox are very much not rushing it with Crochet, who last pitched on April 25.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how close we are\u201d to Crochet even playing catch, interim manager Chad Tracy<\/b> said.<\/span><\/p>\n
