Two Boston Globe sports reporters finished first in their categories in the annual Associated Press Sports Editors\u2019 sports journalism contest, the organization announced recently.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adam Himmelsbach was the winner in the Local Beat Writing category for his coverage of the Boston Celtics. It is the second year in a row Himmelsbach was named the top beat writer in Category A, the highest division of the contest. His portfolio included the breaking news of the Celtics sale, his report from the game in which Jayson Tatum was injured, a feature on coach Joe Mazzulla, and a feature on all the memories of one of the team\u2019s longest-tenured employees.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt Porter took first in the High School Beat Writing division, a new category for the highest level of the contest this year. Porter\u2019s entry included news of an altercation following a state championship soccer game, game coverage of the Sharon High football team\u2019s return to the field after a player suffered a major injury, an enterprise project on the state of high school hockey, and an appreciation following the death of a star high school athlete.<\/span><\/p>\n
