The award nominations keep rolling in for the Boston Fleet. <\/span><\/p>\n

Haley Winn, already a finalist for Defender of the Year alongside Fleet captain Megan Keller, on Tuesday was named a finalist for Rookie of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Winn, the Fleet\u2019s 2025 first-round draft pick (second overall), is up against Nicole Gosling (Montreal) and Casey O\u2019Brien (New York). Gosling and Winn were defense partners at Clarkson. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI feel super blessed to have this group and this coaching staff for my first year,\u201d Winn said at the team\u2019s breakup day earlier this month. \u201cI\u2019ve learned so much on and off the ice \u2014 just what it takes to be a real pro.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Often appearing on Boston\u2019s top pairing with Keller, Winn produced 19 points in 30 regular-season games, tied for second among rookies and third among all PWHL defenders, and her five goals are a record for a rookie defender. She registered 92 shots on goal, the most in her draft class and second most among all defenders. <\/span><\/p>\n

Winn\u2019s skating can help her get out of trouble, and the Fleet relied on her legs as a tool to keep the puck in the offensive zone while playing their high-pressure style. <\/span><\/p>\n

She played on both of Boston\u2019s special teams and led all PWHL skaters in ice time in the regular season (802:42, 26:45 per game). In 16 games in which Winn had at least a point, the Fleet went 10-3-2-1. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s maybe a little clich\u00e9, but she truly is the last one to leave every single day,\u201d Fleet assistant coach Stefanie McKeough said of Winn. \u201cThere\u2019s an obsessive trait about her. She loves hockey, and I think because she loves hockey and she\u2019s willing to work hard, that\u2019s why she is the great hockey player that she is.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Winn also was a crucial part of Team USA\u2019s gold medal\u2013winning Olympic campaign in February.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on the Fleet\u2019s list of award finalists are Aerin Frankel, who is up for Goaltender of the Year, and Kris Sparre, a finalist for Coach of the Year. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Detroit on June 16.<\/span><\/p>\n
