The Texas senator lost his seat anyway.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>An unofficial list of candidates who submitted enough signatures to qualify for the ballot lists Rollins among those running for Suffolk District attorney, alongside incumbent Kevin Hayden and local attorney Linda Champion, a former member of Hayden\u2019s leadership team. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>The list also includes candidates who qualified in races across the state, including eight contenders in Norfolk County, where longtime District Attorney Michael Morrissey is not seeking reelection after a 50-year career marked in recent years by his prosecution of Karen Read and his office\u2019s handling of the investigation into Sandra Birchmore\u2019s death.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cToday, it starts,\u201d Rollins told her followers in a video posted to social media Tuesday evening. \u201cWe\u2019re going to bring Suffolk County DA\u2019s office back to the community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Neither Hayden\u2019s office nor Champion immediately responded to requests for comment Tuesday night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> The candidate list remains subject to change until the June 2 deadline to file nomination papers, according to the secretary of state\u2019s office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A final candidates list will then be released. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Seven Democrats are vying to replace Morrissey, including Greg Connor, the chief trial counsel and chief of homicide in Morrissey\u2019s office, who prosecuted Brian Walshe, the Cohasset man accused of killing and dismembering his wife in January 2023. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonrelocationinsider.com\/?p=1293\">Cornyn crushed: Seven takeaways from Tuesday\u2019s runoffs in Texas<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>The other Democratic candidates are former Governor\u2019s Council member Robert Jubinville, former state prosecutor Djuna Perkins, Cohasset School Committee member and former state prosecutor Craig MacLellan, former state prosecutor Macy Lee, former prosecutor Adam Deitch, and public defender Jim Barakat. Attorney Joseph Pagliarulo, of Millis, is running as an independent.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>In Bristol County, where District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III is not seeking reelection after serving in the role for over a decade, voters will see a race between Republican candidate Seth Aitken and Democratic candidate Christopher Markey, according to the secretary of state\u2019s office. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Aitken, a first-time candidate from Swansea, is the first Republican to seek the Bristol DA\u2019s office since 1974. Markey, a state representative from Dartmouth, previously worked under former Bristol District Attorney Paul Walsh Jr., who held the post for 16 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In Middlesex County, Democratic candidate David Solet, the former chief of the Middlesex County Cold Case Homicide Unit, will challenge Marian T. Ryan, who has held the office since 2013. Solet, a Cambridge resident, spent more than two decades working in the district attorney\u2019s office before resigning in September to launch his campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Democratic prosecutor Michael Giardino will challenge incumbent Robert Galibois in the Cape &amp; Islands district attorney race.
