Stan DeMartinis III scored on a wild pitch to give the Bentley baseball team a 3-2 win over Molloy, sending the Falcons (44-15) to the NCAA Division 2 World Series for the first time in program history. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 3 of the best-of-3 final series of the East Super Regional in Waltham, DeMartinis was hit by a pitch with the count full. Brendan Sencaj followed with a single, and then the runners moved to second and third when David VanderZouwen grounded out.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Jackson Wilburn at the plate, Molloy reliever Jayden Patel threw wild in the dirt, the pitch careening off catcher Jeremy Taggart up the first-base line, and DeMartinis ran down the third-base line with both arms raised above his head.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bentley starter Sam Belliveau was outstanding, tossing eight innings of four-hit, two-run ball, striking out eight while walking two. Keegan Antelman (5-0) earned the win by pitching a hitless ninth inning while striking out two. <\/span><\/p>\n
