Suddenly, the Red Sox don\u2019t have a clear-cut starting third baseman.<\/span><\/p>\n

Caleb Durbin<\/b> was on the bench for a fourth time in six games Saturday against the Twins, as interim manager Chad Tracy<\/b> has tilted toward a platoon at the hot corner. Durbin has started against lefthanders and Nick Sogard<\/b> has played third against righthanders over the past week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amid Durbin\u2019s very good defense and very bad offense, have the Sox considered sending him to Triple-A?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHaven\u2019t talked about that yet,\u201d Tracy said before the game. \u201cI will say, [in] the more sporadic playing time here lately, the games he has played, his at-bats have looked better. He had the go-ahead hit in Kansas City. He had some good at-bats [Friday] night, the ball he hit to center field, he dropped down a beautiful bunt.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been some positive in there, and some signs that it\u2019s getting a little better, but we haven\u2019t gotten to that [minor league demotion consideration] yet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
