Montreal looking into potential fan incident against Revolution player during Saturday’s match

CF Montreal is reviewing the alleged use of discriminatory language toward a Revolution player during Saturday’s 2-2 draw between the teams, it said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, antisemitic comments were yelled at Revolution striker Dor Turgeman after the Israeli international scored in the 36th minute, giving New England a 2-0 lead.

After scoring, Turgeman immediately extended his arms outward and stared into the supporter sections behind the goal — first from inside the net, then again after running outside it to get closer to the fans. He and teammate Peyton Miller then put a hand to their ear as Montreal goalkeeper Sébastian Breza ran to them and started a small confrontation.

Turgeman circled away from the sideline, but continued to point to his ear.

Breza, who had moments before become tangled with Turgeman on another near goal, was issued a yellow card.

Responding to a question postgame about Turgeman’s interaction with Breza, Revolution coach Marko Mitrovic said he did not talk to Turgeman about it.

“What happened between him and [Montreal’s] goalkeeper, I was 70-80 yards from there, so I have no clue,” Mitrovic said.

Miller was not asked about the incident postgame, according to a team-released transcript.

Montreal said it has been in contact with the Revolution and MLS as it tries to establish the facts and take necessary action.

“The Club does not tolerate discrimination or hateful behavior of any kind,” its statement read.

The Revolution announced Sunday that recently signed Jack Harrison received his Green Card and P-1 visa, making him eligible for Saturday’s match against Houston at Gillette Stadium.

While the England-born Harrison will be one of the team’s designated players, he will not occupy an international spot.

The 29-year-old Harrison, whom the team plans to introduce in a Monday press conference, attended Berkshire School before playing one year at Wake Forest and was the No. 1 pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. After two seasons at NYCFC, Harrison went to Europe, having the bulk of his success at Leeds United.
