“New Girl” creator Elizabeth Meriwether’s latest show is “Furious,” out today on Hulu. Emmy Rossum (“Shameless”) stars as an FBI agent on the hunt for a female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew (“Say Nothing”). The series is based on the 1987 film “Black Widow.” Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Jake Lacy, and Scoot McNairy costar. Enjoy three episodes today, with subsequent episodes to drop weekly.
Comedian Mary Beth Barone releases her new special, “Galaxy Brain,” on Netflix Tuesday. Barone, a one-time Boston College student who left school to go to New York, told the Globe in 2025 that she grew up around some very funny people: “Being funny was always highly valued in my family,” she said, “because there are six children, so you need to get the attention somehow.”

Sometimes, it can feel like every single show is set in New York or LA. That’s why it’s so appealing when there’s a show that makes its setting a real character, like “Diarra from Detroit,” which drops its second season Wednesday on Paramount+. In the first season, Diarra (Diarra Kilpatrick), a schoolteacher, refuses to accept that she’s been ghosted by the first guy she liked after the end of her marriage, and gets entangled in a missing person case. The show is funny, unusual, and made with a clear affection for its setting. Catch up on the first season on the same streamer.
The 1988 Lockerbie bombing gets another look in “The Bombing of Pan Am 103,” out Thursday on Netflix. The series delves into the aftermath of the bombing, in which a trans-Atlantic flight crashed into the town of Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all passengers and several residents of the town. Patrick J. Adams (“Suits), Merritt Wever (“Nurse Jackie”), Connor Swindells (“Sex Education”), and Eddie Marsan (“Ray Donovan”) star as the various local and international figures who try to figure out what happened.
