Revolution introduce new signing Jack Harrison, rout Atlanta United
The Revolution had a big day on and off the field Saturday. The club announced it acquired winger Jack Harrison as one of its designated players, and also got back into the win column with a 4-1 rout of Atlanta United in front of 34,428 at Gillette Stadium.

The Revolution only had 10 shots in the victory, but made the most of them, scoring twice in each half. Carles Gil and Brooklyn Raines each had a goal and an assist, and Alhassan Yusuf had two assists.
It was a much cleaner performance for New England (9-5-2, 29 points) following Wednesday’s scoreless draw against Toronto, which now looks more like rust following a two-month layoff than difficulty with the turf field.
Gil got the Revolution going in the right direction in the 11th minute. From just beyond the top of the box, he made two touches to his left and ripped a left-footed shot to curl past the dive of Atlanta United goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos and inside the left post.
Some lovely passing between Gil, Raines, and Yusuf led to the hosts doubling their advantage in the 36th. Yusuf finished the series with a cross from the right side to Dor Turgeman running to the near post, whose shot deflected in off the post.
In the 56th, Yusuf intercepted a pass and started a lethal counterattack, finishing it by threading a pass to his right to an open Peyton Miller for a 3-0 lead.
It spelled the end of the night for Yusuf, however, as he came off injured and was replaced by Jackson Yueill.

Raines and Yueill worked a give-and-go for a 4-0 cushion in the 67th. It was the first career goal for Raines.
“I don’t think the definition of Brooklyn’s job is to score goals, but we just spoke that whoever is there to make an assist or score a goal, that’s great and I think he recognized the right time to go,” Revolution coach Marko Mitrovic said. “Even last game he had two shots and it encouraged him like, ‘I can get there and score goals.’ I actually think outside of the goal he had a very good game tonight.”
Miguel Almirón spoiled Matt Turner’s bid for a fifth clean sheet of the season in the 85th.
The Revolution have scored 26 goals from 16 games, but 10 of those goals were scored in the 6-1 win over Cincinnati in March and Saturday. Harrison should help that production, having either scored or assisted on 45 goals in 181 English Premier League games with Leeds and Everton.
Harrison was born in England and attended the youth academies for Liverpool and Manchester United, but moved to Massachusetts as a teenager and attended Berkshire School in Sheffield. He was the top pick of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft after one season at Wake Forest.
Harrison spent two seasons with NYCFC before heading to Europe, where he spent the bulk of his time at Leeds. He recently completed a six-month loan spell at Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A, where he had one goal and three assists in 22 appearances, including six UEFA Conference League games.
The Revolution will visit Montreal next Saturday.
