Boston College and UMass men’s basketball to meet Nov. 6 at TD Garden

For the first time since 2014, the Boston College and UMass men’s basketball teams will lock horns at TD Garden.

The Eagles and Minutemen will serve as the opener to a national championship rematch between UConn and Michigan on Nov. 6. As part of the TNT Sports Hall of Fame Series Boston, one ticket will grant admission to both games.

Prior to a game at Springfield’s MassMutual Center last Dec. 10 — won, 76-74, by the Minutemen — the schools had not played since November meetings at the Garden in 2013 and 2014.

“What an incredible opportunity to once again play Boston College in our own state,” said UMass coach Frank Martin in a statement. “Thankful to the Hall of Fame for making it happen . . . Boston College-UMass should make for a great game for our state.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday at hofseries.com.

“We are thrilled to bring our basketball program back to TD Garden for the first time in over a decade. Basketball holds a special place in the heart of this city, and we are excited to reestablish the tradition of Boston College hosting games in one of the country’s premier basketball settings,” said first-year BC coach Luke Murray in a statement. “We are thankful to partner with the Basketball Hall of Fame and appreciate their efforts in putting together a great night of basketball in Boston.”

Murray was introduced as BC’s coach this spring after a successful tenure as an assistant at UConn.

TD Garden’s second Hall of Fame Series date, Syracuse vs. Providence, remains a standalone event on Dec. 19.
