Bishop Feehan phenom Brody Bumila came off the board at No. 89 when the Rangers took him despite concerns about an elbow injury. Bumila said he will sign — for “first-round money” — and forgo his commitment to pitch at the University of Texas, and will also undergo surgery with the Rangers’ team doctor.
“I feel great,” he said, speaking by phone moments after he was chosen. “All the adversity, everything, it all happens for a reason. I’m super excited to be in this organization that wants me, and super excited to play professional baseball.”
