Unrelenting rain suspends Round 2 of the Massachusetts Amateur at Winchester Country Club
Unrelenting rainfall Tuesday suspended the second round of the 118th Massachusetts Amateur Championship at Winchester Country Club. Round 2 was scheduled to resume Wednesday at 7 a.m.

First-round leaders Patrick Kilcoyne, a runner-up to reigning MassAm champion Ryan Downes last year at GreatHorse, Carson Erick and Jake Mvra — who finished the first round tied at 3-under 68 — set out to complete Round 2, but only Kilcoyne managed to finish his round, firing a 1-over 72.
Inclement weather forced suspension of play at 8:35 a.m. Play resumed at 11:33 a.m., then was called for the day at 3:18 p.m. The second round will resume at 7 a.m. to be followed by the start of match play.

Among the 14 players who managed to complete their second round, Conner Willett, the 2022 MassAm champion from Charles River CC, was the only player to break par with a 1-under 70 after he sandwiched birdies on Nos. 2, 14, and 17 between bogeys on his opening and finishing holes.
