1. Commitment central
▪ Xaverian senior Chrisian McIntyre, the 2025 Gatorade Massachusetts Football Player of the Year after helping lead Xaverian to its third straight Division 1 Super Bowl win, has announced he will play collegiately at Ohio.
The 6-foot-1 wide receiver will spend a post-grad season at Avon Old Farms (Conn.), after posting 1,562 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior for Xaverian. He had 14 Division 1 offers, including Brown, Lehigh, and Navy.
▪ Xaverian junior linebacker Michael Harden Jr., the stepson of Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, has committed to play football at BC. The 6-foot-2 junior, who had five sacks for the Hawks last year, helped lead Xaverian to a three-peat. He is the fourth linebacker to commit to BC from the Class of 2027.
▪ Lawrence Academy junior Camilo Lopes, a 6-2, 250-pound defensive end and linebacker, will play football at Army West Point.
▪ Nobles junior Cole Henebry, a Medfield resident, announced his commitment to Northeastern. The righthanded pitcher and third baseman, who has clocked in at 88 miles per hour, went 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 37⅓ innings this spring.
▪ Milford senior Ryan Burns , a 6-5, 265-pound offensive lineman will play football at Middlebury, one of four Milford students who celebrated their signing day together: Jason Stokes (football, Bates), Anthony Mastroianni (football and lacrosse, New England), and Sullivan Driscoll (lacrosse, Roger Williams).
▪ Catholic Memorial four-star sophomore Ramar Thomas announced he has reopened his recruitment. The 6-3, 190-pound wide receiver had initially committed to Boston College but announced Monday he was resconsidering his options. He has offers from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Maryland, UConn, and more.
2. Coaching carousel
▪ Brockton football will have its third head coach in five years following the hiring of alum Mike Norman Jr. He replaces Jailson Silva, who led the Boxers to a pair of Division 1 tournament appearances in his two seasons.
Norman Jr., who played safety at Stonehill, had been head coach of Brockton’s freshman team. He played quarterback and safety for the Boxers, throwing for 914 yards and five touchdowns as a senior captain in 2018, while adding four rushing scores. He also played baseball and ran track at Brockton.
▪ Braintree introduced alum Amanda Abramson as its girls’ ice hockey coach. The 2011 Wamps graduate was a two-sport star in hockey and softball, earning league MVP honors in both. She still owns the school’s ponits record with 111.

▪ Bishop Feehan has hired Abigail Soutter as its volleyball coach. She has served as an assistant at Old Rochester and coached the Lockdown Volleyball Club in Ohio for five seasons. She has spent three years as an assistant at Wheaton and serves as the head coach of the 15U NERVA All-Stars.
▪ Shrewsbury has promoted alum Lee Diamantopoulos to head boys’ basketball coach. The Colonials’ longtime baseball coach takes over for Adrian Machado, who retired after 21 years. Diamantopoulos, a 2001 graduate, has been on staff at Shrewsbury for more than 20 years after graduating from Framingham State, where he played baseball and basketball. He has won more than 200 games in 17 years as baseball coach, capturing a Mid-Wach A League title this spring.
▪ Rodney Hill, who had been announced as the women’s basketball coach at Masters Academy International, has been named the head boys’ basketball coach at Douglass High School in Oklahoma City. He spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Texas A&M.
▪ After four years at Salem, Reilly Christie is leaving to take over as the director of athletics at Malden Catholic starting July 10.
“I did not make this decision lightly, as Salem has become my home, and I have truly witnessed how special it is to be a Witch,” Christie said in a statement.
Salem won 12 individual state championships and the Division 3 boys’ basketball title under Christie’s watch, which also saw athletic participation rise from 22 percent of students to 47.
3. College corner
▪ Brandeis rising senior Matt Chafin, a Canton graduate, was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division 3 regional all-defensive team. Chafin started 30 of 34 games, with 65 assists and 126 chances. He made just two errors for a .984 fielding percentage, while helping turn 15 double plays.
