At the 5K mark, Lokedi was running in lockstep with a crowd of five others, all clocking in at 16:10.

Lokedi’s big push occurred right after the 8K mark, near where the Boston Marathon finish line is located on Boylston Street.

By the race’s conclusion, Kenya’s Lokedi held off American Rachel Rudel (31:28) and fellow Kenyan Veronica Loleo (31:33) for the win. Lokedi earned $12,000 for the victory.

It was a Kenyan sweep, as Patrick Kiprop bested South Africa’s Adriaan Wildschutt by five seconds, winning in a time of 27:55 on the men’s side.
