The Bruins have traded the rights to forward Andre Gasseau to the San Jose Sharks, the team announced Thursday.

The former Boston College captain is headed west, along with a fourth-round pick (No. 120) in this year’s draft. The Bruins receive a pair of picks, also in this draft — one in the fourth round (104th overall, via Florida) and one in the fifth round (157th, via Montreal).
The announcement was not a surprise since Gasseau did not sign with the Bruins this spring after completing his senior season at BC and would have become a free agent in August. General manager Don Sweeney told the Globe this month that the team was looking to find a “trade opportunity” for the 22-year-old.
“We wanted to sign Andre,” said Sweeney. “Our development guys have done a fabulous job in communicating with him, worked with him for six years, so it’s disappointing organizationally, but the player has this decision to make and he’s made it. You have to respect that.”
The Bruins originally selected Gasseau in the seventh round of the 2021 draft. The 6-foot-4-inch, 224-pounder spent four seasons at The Heights, finishing with 43 goals and 68 assists in 135 games. He scored twice in the championship game of the 2026 Beanpot to lead the Eagles to a 6-2 win over Boston University and the program’s first title since 2016.
The Bruins now have eight picks for next week’s draft, which is scheduled for June 26-27 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo.
