Game 73: Red Sox at Mariners lineups and notes

Maybe some time away will do the Red Sox good.

After dropping a 4-3 decision on Thursday against the Blue Jays to to extend their losing streak to four games, the Sox are heading west for a six-game road trip at Seattle and Colorado.

They will open a three-game series with the Mariners Friday with lefthander Ranger Suarez on the mound.

Seattle, which is in first place in the AL West, will counter with righthander Bryce Miller and will be piggybacked by fellow starter Luis Castillo.

It’s a system the Mariners employed in May and are trying again with their six-man rotation as they have four off-days in the 28 days leading into the All-Star break. Ideally, the initial starter is limited to five innings, while the other could pitch four in relief.

Here is a preview.
