Game 62: Red Sox at Yankees lineups and notes

There doesn’t seem to be much buzz around this weekend’s Red Sox-Yankees series in New York.

With the Red Sox in last place in the AL East and 10½ games behind their rivals, that’s bound to happen.

Fortunately for the Sox, they will not have to contend with outfielder Aaron Judge. The Yankees announced Thursday that their slugger will be out for at least four to six weeks with a stress fracture in his rib.

It will mark the first meeting between the teams since the Sox managed just three runs while getting swept at Fenway April 21-23.

Righthander Sonny Gray will get the start for the Sox in Friday’s opener, while the Yankees will counter with lefthander Ryan Weathers.

He is 2-3 with a 4.15 ERA in eight starts against the Yankees. … Willson Contreras has a season-high 16-game on-base streak, recording at least one hit in 14 of those games. … Ryan Weathers is facing the Red Sox for the first time. He recorded 10 strikeouts his last time out but allowed five runs in Saturday’s 6-4 loss to the Athletics. … Judge missed the previous three games against Cleveland, with the Yankees using Jose Caballero and Max Schuemann in right field. Cody Bellinger may also see time in right field on occasion.
