On Wednesday, the Boston Athletic Association announced a record fund-raising total from the 2026 Boston Marathon, with the Official Charity Program raising $57.3 million for 193 nonprofit organizations.

The mark is a 13.7 percent increase over the $50.3 million raised in 2025, which had been a record for the race. The Boston Marathon Official Charity Program has now raised more than $675 million since its inception in 1989.

“Participants have once again set a single-year fund-raising record, leading to an everlasting fund-raising impact for nearly 200 organizations within our community,” said Nicole Juri, director of development for the BAA, in a statement. “Athletes not only completed the 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston, but have created a ripple effect with their fund-raising efforts to support various causes near and dear to their hearts.”

This was the second year that the Marathon partnered with Bank of America, which took over lead sponsorship of the race for the 2025 edition.

“The 130th Boston Marathon is once more showing the power of sports and of community coming together to benefit organizations that support hundreds of thousands of our neighbor and family members,” said Miceal Chamberlain, president of Bank of America Massachusetts. “This spirit of giving is an inspiration to us all as we celebrate global sports in the months to come.”

Most of the Marathon’s entrants are still time qualifiers, but charity runners comprised close to 10 percent of the field in 2026.
