Northeastern baseball captures CAA Championship and NCAA Tournament berth with walkoff win over Campbell
Junior Ryan Gerety delivered a game-winning RBI single to right field in the bottom of the ninth to lift second-seeded Northeastern to a 3-2 walkoff victory over No. 1 Campbell in the CAA Baseball Championship game on Sunday at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
The Huskies (38-20) captured their second straight CAA title, and their third in the past six years. They also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and overcame a Campbell team that finished 41-17.
With the score tied 2-2, Tyler Harmony opened the ninth inning with a double down the third base line. Harrison Feinberg advanced Harmony on an infield single before Gerety roped his game-winning hit to right field.

Closer Andrew Wertz (2-2) earned the victory for Northeastern after striking out three of the four batters he faced, including one to escape a bases-loaded jam in the top of the eighth inning. He was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after collecting a win and two saves while appearing in Northeastern’s final four games of the tournament.

Feinberg, Gerety and, and Luc Rising all represented Northeastern on the CAA All-Tournament Team.
Campbell opened the scoring in the fifth when Mike Murphy hit his fourth homer of the season. The Camels added a second run after Lukas Schramm was hit by a pitch, stole second, and was driven in by Jonah Oster’s base hit to right.
But the Huskies answered back quickly, with Will Forsberg scoring in the bottom half of the inning on a Feinberg grounder to short. Harmony drove in Charlie Criscola in the sixth to tie the contest at 2-2 in the sixth inning.

Harmony finished 2 for 3 with two walks and an RBI in the win.
