While the regular season winds down — Monday is the final day for baseball, softball, and boys’ lacrosse — and the playoffs get going — No. 32 Arlington defeated No. 33 Haverhill, 16-8, in a Division 1 preliminary girls’ lacrosse matchup — it’s also a busy weekend for league track meets, as well as the Boston City League baseball and softball finals.

1. Milestones

▪ The day after he made his commitment to play at Wentworth official, Haverhill senior Connor Damske collected his 200th career point during a 13-1 boys’ lacrosse win over Cambridge.

▪ Central Catholic junior Jeremiah Mateo Mora set school records in the 400-meter hurdles (54.60 seconds) and triple jump (46 feet, 2.75 inches) during the Merrimack Valley Conference championship meet. He also won the 110 hurdles in 14.79 seconds.

▪ Manchester Essex senior Charlie Thurlow scored twice, including his 100th career goal, during a 7-5 boys’ lacrosse triumph vs. Ipswich. Thurlow is headed to play at Roger Williams next year.

▪ Hopedale junior Noah Smith notched his 100th career hit during a 14-4 baseball win over Keefe Tech.

2. Crowning champions

▪ The Central Catholic girls captured the Merrimack Valley Conference outdoor track title by scoring 132.5 points at the championship meet to best second-place Billerica (101) thanks to wins from Arianna DiPietro (100 hurdles) and Avery Strickler (400 and long jump).

▪ The North Andover boys stood atop the MVC championship meet standings with 191.5 points, ahead of Central Catholic (121) and Lowell (89.5).

▪ The Masconomet girls’ track team shared the Northeastern Conference championship meet crown after going undefeated in the regular season. Mara Siewko won three individual league titles and broke her own school record in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 6.25 inches.

▪ The Canton girls’ track team won the Hockomock League title, while Attleboro captured the boys’ crown. Canton scored 103 points to finish ahead of King Philip (79.5) and Franklin (76.3), while Attleboro’s 135 points topped Oliver Ames (120) and Stoughton (81).

▪ With a hat trick from Evan Bialis, Pope Francis boys’ lacrosse defeated Amherst-Pelham, 7-6, to capture the Western Mass. Class B title at Springfield Central.

▪ Pittsfield captured the Western Mass. Class B baseball title over Wahconah, 6-1, thanks to Jay Codey’s complete game.

3. The upsets

Two of the top 12 baseball teams in the Globe Top 20 suffered losses Saturday, with No. 6 Natick losing the championship game of its own Pedroli Memorial Tournament, 2-0, to Franklin. No. 16 Plymouth North got the best of No. 12 Braintree by an identical 2-0 score thanks to junior Rhys Adair’s seven-strikeout shutout.

4. Going, going, gone

For as few games as there were Saturday, there were a disproportionate number of two-homer days. Senior Bella Nicoli launched a pair for Cardinal Spellman, senior Ali Gill did the same for King Philip, and sophomore Caroline Arruda launched a homer in each of her games.

The rest of the day’s round-trippers belonged to Marblehead’s Tim Wales, Central Catholic’s Chloe Salerno, Taunton’s Victoria Corrao, Tewksbury’s Lila Areias, Haverhill’s Max St. Hilaire, and Reading’s Alex Merkle and Sam Clark.

5. Seven stars

Camryn Collier, Latin Academy — The freshman ensured Latin Academy secured its 22nd consecutive Boston City League softball title by firing five shutout innings with 11 strikeouts in a 12-0 victory over O’Bryant.

Nuri Gutman, Latin Academy — The Bowdoin-bound senior returned from injury to throw a two-hit complete game with eight strikeouts while also scoring two key runs in a 3-2 victory over English High to capture the Dragons’ first Boston City League title since 2017.

Travers Moodie, Medford — The senior blanked Woburn with a two-hit shutout, fanning seven in a game the Mustangs needed to win in order to qualify for the Division 1 tournament.

DJ Silverstein, Franklin — The senior fired a one-hit shutout, striking out seven and pushing the Panthers to the Pedroli Memorial Tournament title over Natick, 2-0.

Caroline Arruda, Marshfield — The sophomore had herself a day, homering once in each half of a doubleheader as part of the Cardinal Spellman Memorial Day Smash. Arruda homered and struck out 10 to beat Malden Catholic, 3-2, in the semifinals, then struck out eight with a homer in a 5-3 win over the hosts in the final.

Bella Nicoli, Cardinal Spellman — The senior crushed a pair of homers, driving in five runs during a 13-1 semifinal win at the Memorial Day Smash.

Katelyn Taylor, Silver Lake — The junior dazzled, posting a seven-strikeout shutout and delivering the lone RBI in the bottom of the sixth as part of a two-hit effort to defeat Pembroke, 1-0.

6. College corner

▪ Washington University junior Peter Lichtenberger, a BB&N graduate from Somerville, won the Division 3 outdoor track and field national championship in the pole vault by clearing 17 feet, 2.75 inches.

Also at the Division 3 meet:

▪ WPI senior Alex Cole earned second team All-American honors by finishing 16th in the 100 meters (10.58). It was his second All-American nod after earning second-team honors as part of the 4×100 relay last year.

▪ Two days after earning his third All-American honors, UMass Dartmouth sophomore Ancil Alexander, a Taunton graduate, made it four by finishing ninth the shot put with a throw of 56 feet, 10 inches. Alexander earned first-team All-American honors in the discus on Thursday.
